      • SOUTHERN

        SHADES OF BLUE

an interview series giving voice to Southern small town

        progressives, liberals, and democrats!

      • With SOUTHERN SHADES OF BLUE, filmed in Moore County, NC, the Southern small-town, left-leaning voice is highlighted.

While Southern values are often associated with only conservatives and conservative values, this interview series works to flip this narrative.

Showing there are many more left-leaning voters in your small town than you might think, the series shows how Southern and liberal values, such as kindness, family, and civil rights, overlap.

This interview series urges all small town progressives, liberals, and democrats to "come out of the closet" as it were politically, let your voice be known, and make sure your vote is counted.

Project Note: These videos were filmed in the Fall of 2019, pre-Covid, pre-the murder of George Floyd by police. SOUTHERN SHADES OF BLUE stands with BIPOC in the fight against systemic racism and also urges everyone in the country to wear a mask.

Disclaimer: The opinions of all interviewees are their own opinions and interviewees do not speak on behalf of organizations mentioned in this video.

      • This project would not have been possible without the support and time of everyone involved!

PARTICIPANTS: Thank you to all the participants for letting me into your homes, giving me your time, being so open, and trusting me (when I wasn't even sure what this project would be) with your messages of hope and inspiration.

EDITOR: Thank you to Manny Bocchieri who stepped in as a guiding light to help tell the story and make it look fantastic.

MUSIC: Thank you to the kick-ass bluegrass band The High & Wides (pictured above) for use of your beautiful music. Based out of Maryland, they have two albums which you should purchase right now and can do so here - Seven True Stories and Lifted. You can also follow them on Facebook! The High & Wides are currently on the first round of Grammy ballots for "Best Bluegrass Album" so if you are a Grammy voter or know someone who is, vote for them!

CAMERA: Thank you to Ajana Molineux for use of your fancy camera. It was your gifting me your camera for a few months that even allowed me to think this project could be possible.

YOU!: And finally thank you to all who have shared this project with your friends, family, and local democrat and progressive associations. We can do this together!
